Postmodernism and Science: A Retrospective Look
I cut and paste a 1996 article, back from when I could write.
Going through my father-in-law’s papers turned up a surprise, a copy of an old Tikkun article of mine from 1996. I’d lost my own copy. It takes an early look at the academic turn toward “local knowledge” and anti-scientific solipsism, just at the stage where that philosophy and nominally leftish politics were starting to flirt. Not every part of this has held up well but overall I think it captures the early stages of a disastrous cultural and political turn. It’s better than any of the dull crap I’ve written recently.
